A relatively new activity here in Malaysia, whitewater rafting is also one of the best ways to venture into the wilderness which had remained unexplored over thousands of years. But not all of these rapids are difficult to access; there are few, which is located within a few hours drive from the city.
The Selangor River, for instance have thrilling rapids that promises hardcore action in a relatively short stretch. Other famous rapids include the Padas Gorge and Kiulu River in Sabah as well as Jeram Besu in Pahang state. The whitewater in these places is fun rather than challenging, but the gorgeous rainforest scenery is an added bonus. Rafting in Endau River in Johor and the Nenggiri River in Kelantan, meanwhile, offer more real life adventure. Also covered by dense jungle is the Telom River in Cameron Highlands.
Another interesting whitewater spot is the Sedim River in Kedah. Twenty of its rapids that stretch 6.5km provide easy to extreme whitewater actions, some of which have been rated favourably by experts from Australia and New Zealand. |
